The Divine & Dirty Female-Fronted Band from NYC!

Angel Grit comes from the concrete of New York City’s Lower East Side. They are a collision of hardcore, punk, and metal that doesn’t fit neatly into one box. The band exists to cut through a male-dominated scene with a ferocious, female-forward presence that is as melodic as it is heavy.

Frontwoman Melissa Schainker applies her background as a fine art painter to the music, treating songwriting like a canvas that balances light and dark or clean and dirty. She is backed by Eduardo Palacios, a multi-instrumentalist who anchors the rhythm. The dynamic on stage is fluid and unpredictable as Melissa and Eduardo frequently trade guitar and bass duties mid-set, refusing to settle into a comfortable routine. Behind the kit is Louis Iacobelli, a scene veteran with a powerhouse drumming style honed over years mostly in “venues that don’t exist anymore,” as he would explain it.

You can find them sweating it out at NYC staples like Arlene’s Grocery, Baker Falls, and Lucky 13. The concept of “Angel Grit” is about the hard split between opposites: the saint and the sinner, the broken heart and the mended one. It explores the tension of the human condition without filtering out the ugly parts.
